The first few weeks of 2026 started with a bang! Among many other things, we’ve got straight into eDNA data analysis, finalised funding applications, and we even managed to spend the day with Wairere Mahi and an RNZ podcaster.

Two-Day Course, perfect for people working in native forest restoration
This two-day professional development opportunity designed to build your confidence in assessing regeneration potential and applying Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) strategies in real-world landscapes.
Delivered by ecologist Dr Adam Forbes, Forbes Ecology Limited, this course is ideal for land stewards, council officers, mana whenua, catchment groups, and anyone working with native forest restoration. We’ll cover both scientific foundations and practical tools to guide decision-making in the field.
There are two available workshops available in February 2026.
Western Bay | 9 & 10 February | The Gallery, Te Puna Quarry Park.
Te Aroha | 11 & 12 February | The Pavilion, Te Aroha Domain.

Day One
Classroom session covering ANR principles, forest succession, seed sources, exotic species roles, threats management, resilience assessment, planting strategies and monitoring techniques.
